Samsung Recall for Exploding Batteries

|

A product recall has been issued by Samsung Electronics Co. recently in the United States, South Korea, and Europe. The current recall involves their smartphone, the Galaxy Note 7s, and its faulty battery. The battery has allegedly caused some of their products to catch on fire. This recall is quite extensive, as it has resulted in the recall of more than 2.5 million Samsung devices.

Samsung reported that over half of their products with faulty batteries have been returned already, which is evidence that the company is trying to make this recall happen as quickly and harmlessly as possible. Allegedly, the company reported that the devices they began selling as replacements in the middle of September are safe from recall, as the batteries in those phones are safe. The company plans to take the faulty Galaxy Note 7s smartphones off of the market very shortly. Even with a plan for an effective recall, the company has suffered. The price of recall and the decrease of sales have a chance of taking a $5 billion toll on the company this year.

Product recalls are quite common, as they ensure the safety of consumers and the well-being of companies and manufacturers. In the past year, over 1,500 products have been recalled due to fire-related hazards.
