Boosted, Inc. has recalled around 3,000 of their electric-powered skateboards due to a potential fire hazard. The lithium ion battery pack can overheat and smoke. This affects the 2nd Generation boosted Dual+ skateboards with the battery packs. The wooden skateboards contain the company name “Boosted” written on them, and the serial numbers begin with S2634 through S2644 which are attached to the bottom. The company has received two reports of overheating battery packs, and no injuries have been reported. The company suggests that consumers immediately stop using the recalled board and contact the company for a new battery pack.
Defective and faulty products injure thousands of consumers each year. Luckily for consumers, product liability laws are put in place to help protect consumers from these products and the injuries they cause. Manufacturers, companies, distributors, and retailers are responsible for the products they sell. They are also responsible if consumers are injured by faulty or defective products. Often a simple refund or part replacement will suffice but other times consumers sustain injuries from these products. An attorney will conclude if you have grounds to pursue legal action and help hold the company liable for your injuries.
