A cyclist was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Arlington, Massachusetts. The male cyclist was lying in the street with back pain after the pedestrian accident occurred. He told police that he was traveling east and did not see the stop sign and was struck by a 2016 Subaru crossing the intersection. The Subaru driver told police that they were traveling around 25 miles per hour when they entered the crosswalk without seeing the cyclist. Police reported that there were two eyewitnesses that confirmed that the cyclist did not obey the stop sign. The cyclist was cited for not stopping at the stop sign and was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.
Often when people hear of pedestrian accidents they automatically think it’s the driver's fault. That isn’t always the case, though. However, pedestrian accidents can be very scary and cause serious injuries and fatalities. There are over 65,000 pedestrian injuries each year, and that is alarming for those who rely on secondary transportation. It is necessary for both pedestrians and motorists to pay attention to signals and road signs and to stay alert to others on or near the roadways. Always contact a personal injury attorney if you are injured in a pedestrian accident. A reliable attorney will investigate your accident.
