Over 8,000 Suzuki motorcycles are being recalled for possible engine stalling and crashes. The motorcycles are 2012-2016 model year DL650 which were manufactured from August 30, 2011, through October 12, 2015. The Suzuki Motor of American, Inc. reported that the alternator stator might not receive sufficient heat resistance which can result in a short circuit of the stator wires, meaning the engine can stall and cause a crash. Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will be replacing the affected part free of charge. The company urges owners to contact their customer service number, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline or www.safercar.gov.
