A fatal one vehicle auto-accident occurred on Saturday, December 2nd in Newark, New Jersey. The driver, a 34 year old Harrison citizen, was ejected from their vehicle in the midst of the accident and passed away. Driving over the speed limit is a behavior that is all too common on U.S. roadways. Drivers who travel over the speed limit are responsible for about one out of every three traffic fatalities. Additionally, drivers who speed are more often to participate in other risk behaviors, such as driving while intoxicated. In fact, in 2011, 42% of drivers who caused an auto-accident due to driving over the speed limit had a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, which is 0.08%. Your life isn’t the only thing speeding could cost you - chances are if a speeding driver doesn’t cause an accident, they will be ticketed. About one in every six speeding drivers will be ticketed. That means around 112,000 people a day will receive a speeding ticket.
