The National Medical Malpractice Advocacy Association (NMMAA) is using the month of July to educate the public about harmful negligence in the healthcare community. The Association, along with cities, states, and other organizations around the United States, is observing July as Medical Malpractice Awareness Month.
The awareness efforts of the NMMAA are focused on initiatives to elevate the conversation surrounding the issue of medical malpractice. With the message of “hope, healing, and honor” and a call to “end the silence,” the organization is hoping Medical Malpractice Awareness Month will not only increase visibility, but result in tangible policy changes that will decrease medical malpractice incidents.
Transparency is a significant pillar of the NMMAA’s mission. Many instances of medical malpractice result from a lack of available information in the healthcare industry. Victims suffer because their doctors and nurses fail to inform them of the state of their condition, their options for medical treatment, and their planned course of action. Providing full and complete details about medical care will contribute to more educate patients, and hopefully, safer practices.
Medical malpractice can lead to the worsening or a medical condition, additional illness and injury, and death. Families who are affected by the negligence of doctors are left with the impact of that negligence forever.
At Meyerkord & Kurth, we support the National Medical Malpractice Advocacy Association’s efforts to educate people about the tragedy of medical malpractice. As a patient, you have a right to quality care and transparency. Contact our attorneys if you feel that a doctor violated those rights for you or a loved one. We are dedicated to helping victims recover the damages that result from the negligence of careless healthcare professionals.
