Testim Risks & Side Effects

Over the past several months, researchers have associated various testosterone drugs to a significant increase in the risk for blood clots, stroke, and heart attack.

Two of the most important studies revealed the following:

• A study published in PLOS One found that heart attack risks in men over the age of 65 taking testosterone doubled. It also found that heart attack risks in men who have a history of heart disease nearly tripled.
• A 2013 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that men taking testosterone faced a 30% increased risk of stroke, heart attack, and death.

After these studies were published, the FDA issued a safety announcement that it would be further investigation risks posed by various testosterone products, including AndroGel, Axiron, and Testim – all of which were FDA-approved. The safety announcement also urged that only men with diagnosed medical conditions and related low testosterone should be taking testosterone.
